Subluminal At John Ryland’s Library, Manchester
experience the emotions of light & sound
Subluminal is a group of design professionals based in the North West of England; who have been given the opportunity to bring life to spaces that are unknown.
For three very special nights, John Ryland’s Library in the heart of Manchester city centre will play host to a unique and intimate lighting event which is set to capture both the imagination and hearts of its visitors; Subluminal
The late-Victorian neo-Gothic building located in the middle of Deansgate will be transformed by lighting schemes which will take you on a journey through the grand building’s interior and engage your senses.
The tour will commence at the main ‘historic’ entrance, not normally open to the public, and lead you down to the darkest depths of its historic substructure. At basement level, Subluminal will twist your perceptions of light, sound and space and demonstrate how emotions can be sparked by light alone in the forbidden areas of Manchester.
Sponsored by acdc, the event will be running over 3 nights. The first night, 30th January, aims to bring together various members of the lighting industry to draw attention to, and promote, the importance/value of lighting. Whilst the next 2 consecutive nights will be open to the public.
