New Appointments and Promotions For Speirs + Major
Their new expanded London studio provides more space to grow and Speirs + Major LLP are delighted to announce the following promotions and appointments:
Andrew Howis has been made Managing Partner after 8 years working with the practice. Andy is responsible for the day-to-day running of Speirs + Major alongside his continuing role as a key designer. He has recently completed the award-winning lighting scheme for Burlington Arcade and is currently working on the redevelopment of King’s Cross. He is also leading a major hospitality project in Qatar with David Chipperfield Architects.
Clementine Rodgers has been made an Associate Partner following 9 years with the firm. Clementine’s team recently completed both Maggie’s Centre, Newcastle and JW3 in London, and they are currently working on a wide range of projects including the interior of Battersea Power Station with Wilkinson Eyre Architects, 100 Trees in Shanghai with Thomas Heatherwick and Centre Point with Conran and Partners and Rick Mather Architects. Clementine recently spoke at ‘Light School’ and is actively engaged in lighting education.
Philip Rose has become the practice’s Design Integrator drawing on his 15 year’s of experience working on many celebrated award winning projects including, Terminal 5, Heathrow, Macquarie HQ, Pannonhalma Monastery, and Sackler Crossing. He has just completed the lighting of the newly opened South Park at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park with James Corner Field Operations (technical delivery for Skanska by Michael Grubb Studio). Philip’s new role includes creative design co-ordination, technical leadership and quality control across a wide range of projects practice-wide.
Satu Streatfield has been made a Design Associate. Satu has worked with Speirs + Major for 7 years. She leads the team specialising in urban design and light masterplanning. She has recently completed a lighting strategy for both Bath and for Derby city centre. She is currently working on the public realm for Barangaroo in Australia with Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners and Aspect and a major project in the West End of London with DHDSA. She is also pursuing a live research project called ‘Configuring Light/ Staging the Social’ with the London School of Economics’ alongside her work with community groups such as London’s influential ‘Brick Box’.
Hiroto Toyoda has been made a Senior Designer after 3 years with Speirs + Major. Hiro ran the finely crafted lighting scheme for Hedonism in Mayfair and is currently designing a wide range of architectural and retail solutions including the interior lighting for three commercial towers with Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners in Sydney and the development of a new lighting concept for one of the UK’s leading fashion brands, Mulberry with United Designers. Hiro will be speaking about high end lighting projects at ‘Strategies in Light’ in Munich in October.
Finally Speirs + Major are pleased to announce that they have been joined by a group of new Assistant Designers in the past year including Jack Wates, Sam Tuck, Stephanie Christofi, Jamie Fuentes-McGreevy and Neville De Sa.
