LuxLive 2013 Review

LuxLive 2013 is the UK’s biggest and best lighting event. Many of the world’s biggest brands and industry experts were there. More than 50 hours of complimentary seminars were given which was great value compared to many other lighting events that charge a lot for their programs. – See more at:
Also included in the exhibition was the unique EcoLight Conference – a special event on low-carbon lighting for anyone with responsibility for large lighting estates in the retail, industrial, commercial, exterior and public sectors.

New this year

Your humble Editors from and were at LuxLive conducting interviews live from the showfloor. View them here. We also gave companies the opportunity to participate in LightPitch™. This new, short video clip gives companies about 1 minute to pitch their latest product or innovation at the show. You can see the results here.

We also saw some interesting new entrants such as Ricoh, who were showing their interest in the LED lighting market by exhibiting a prototype of their LED lighting systems which will be released in Europe in 2014.

The Lux Arena

The best way to learn is when you’re enjoying yourself. A new feature for this year put the fun in function by explaining lighting technology through demonstrations, discussions and debates. The Lux Arena was a stunning new, 216 square metre theatre on the floor of the show which had a series of interactive content sessions hosted by some of most engaging and informed personalities on the lighting scene, including technical experts and team Lux.

The show saw an increase in the number of exhibitors although there were a few notable names from previous years missing.
Trends that were shown in previous years were further ‘fleshed out’ but there was nothing that gave the ‘wow’ factor feeling.  It felt like many companies are holding back – ready for the big launch at Light+Building next April.
