Judging Criteria

Entries are judged on the following criteria: functional excellence; architectural compatibility; effective use of state-of-the-art lighting products (predominantly GE Lighting Products) and techniques; appropriate color, form and texture revelation; energy effectiveness and cost effectiveness.

Projects scoring the highest number of points qualify for Awards of Merit and Awards of Excellence. The judges may also select Awards for Environmental Design and an Award for Residential Design based on the presence of entries that encompass the exemplary and outstanding design features that support each category. GE reserves the right to not make an award in one or more categories.

Qualifying entries remain anonymous throughout the judging process. See Call for Entries for details.

Recognition

Winning projects receive Awards of Excellence, Awards of Merit, Awards for Environmental Design and/or an Award for Residential Design. The GE Edison Award Winner is selected from among the Awards of Excellence.

Designers of the winning projects receive personalized plaques in recognition of their lighting design achievements. GE reserves the right to not make an award in one or more categories.

The GE Edison Award Winner receives a personalized Steuben crystal trophy and continued publicity throughout the following year. A distinctive plaque is also presented to the owner of the winning installation.
