Global Off-Grid Lighting Association (GOGLA) Moves

As of 1 August 2013, the Global Off-Grid Lighting Association (GOGLA) has moved its headquarter to Munich, Germany from Paris, France. This decision was made so that activities could be coordinated more effectively since the Secretary General, new Technical Director and Project Manager are all based in Munich. A temporary office solution has been found in Munich however, the objective is still to settle GOGLA within a permanent headquarters location as soon as possible.

There are also some changes to the association staff:

Ms. Zura Nukusheva, who helped to found and form the organization from the beginning, has left the operational business to conduct her master studies at Strasbourg University. We are pleased that Ms. Nukusheva has decided to assume responsibility for the “Lifecycle and Recycling” working group. We would like to thank Zura for her great commitment and enthusiasm towards GOGLA. It has been a great pleasure to work with her and we wish her all the best for her future career.

Assuming Ms. Nukusheva’s previous role of Organization Administrator is Ms. Johanna Diecker. Johanna will make an excellent addition to the team and brings with her experience in the field of international development and project management. In her role, she will focus on running projects, managing working groups and identifying sponsorship opportunities.

A new Technical Director has been named to the GOGLA secretariat. Mr. Hans Peter Birkhofer is an experienced lighting professional with technological know-how as well as a great deal of knowledge of standardization and quality assurance issues. With his vast experience Hans Peter has been involved in the key transformation of the lighting industry from traditional light sources to the development of innovative LED technology.

The new organization is poised to move the organization forward with experience and enthusiasm. Please feel free to contact any member of the team through the website at www.gogla.org.
