Farwaniah Mosque First in Middle East to be Completely Lit by LED Inside & Out
This new build mosque was the first mosque in the Middle East whose exterior as well as interior lighting was completely done in LED.
The preparation phase took one and a half years.
It consisted, for example, of visits of several ministerial delegations to the Netherlands. It also included a number of visits of the CLS team to Kuwait in order to give seminars and trainings. Finally, the certification processes for all armatures had to be thoroughly checked and elaborate visualizations had to be provided.
Kuwait is known for its extremely hot climate with temperatures above 60 degrees. It often occurs that external armatures are being whipped by sandstorms. This means that only armatures of great quality survive in this climate.
For the outside of the building a number of different CLS armatures were used in a special LED configuration with warm white and amber coloured LEDs. In the indoor spaces several variants of the Ultima were applied. The result is phenomenal. Now, an illuminance of almost 900 Lux can be measured in places where it used to be hardly possible to read the Koran.
