Senior Design Engineer Research & Develpment – Tridonic

Your duties
  • To instigate a major contribution to the conception and development of products for the Company’s portfolio
  • From initial outline specification, to design and develop cost-effective and reliable circuits, across a range of electronic products, for the lighting industry
  • To take the product from initial concept through to market and subsequent support.  To co-ordinate these activities with the R&D Engineers and technicians to ensure set timescales are met
  • To work within ISO quality procedures conforming to ISO9001
  • Simulation of initial designs, analysis of fault conditions and protection, testing of prototype and first production units, overseeing the creation of production bills of materials, drawings and test instructions
  • Activities may include contacts with suppliers of materials or design services
  • To provide technical support to Purchasing, Production and Service departments for the products
  • Keep up-to-date with the market place
  • To support R&D Engineers and Technicians ie technical queries
  • In the absence of the R&D Section Manager, to manage the Department
  • Mentor and develop junior members of staff and technicians
Location: Spennymoor, UK
Your profile
  • Higher national level in electronics and/or physics; degree level is of advantage
  • Minimum of 3 years experience of electronic design; Experience of working to ISO 9001 desirable
  • Able to demonstrate a proven track record in concept/designing and developing Switch mode power supply (SMPS)
  • Advanced knowledge in topologies and mathematical analysis of models
  • Top-level concept and “can do” attitude / demonstrable successes and enthusiasm
  • Ability to analyze problems efficiently and produce cost-effective solutions
  • Ability to identify key tasks required to develop a product and to lead R&D Engineers and Technicians to complete the project
  • Ability to work to tight time scales and manage tasks and time within a given development task
  • Good organisational skills
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • PC literate
  • Able to communicate technical matters clearly to others
  • Experience of a product manufacturing environment
  • Basic knowledge of LED’s and photometry an advantage
