Chromlech Introduces Elidy Strip at PLASA
Chromlech, Brittany-based manufacturers of specialist lighting fixtures including the award-winning Elidy LED matrix fixture and Gleamer low-voltage dimmer, will be exhibiting at PLASA 2013 in the White Light Zone on Stand F39.
Elidy, the world’s first LED matrix fixture capable of projecting volumetric graphics, first came to the attention of the industry when it was launched at PLASA 2012 and went on to win a coveted Etoile du SIEL the following year.
Since then Elidy has taken the world of live performance by storm. This year alone has seen it used to stunning effect on tour with no less than Pink, Soundgarden, Queens of the Stone Age, Bon Jovi, One Direction, Rammstein, Depeche Mode, Bruno Mars and the Pet Shop Boys, television shows including The X Factor, The Voice, and Yves Saint Laurent Fashion Show.
Most recently Elidy has hit the headlines with its spectacular effects on the Mumford and Sons tour where lighting designer Ed Warren’s imaginative use of the panels has really awakened the industry to the full potential of this exciting new fixture.
At PLASA 2013 Chromlech will present Elidy software version 2.0 for the first time in the UK.
Elidy version 2.0 introduces ‘Animation Maker’, an integral powerful GIF sequencer which controls Elidy like a moving light using the minimum number of DMX channels. Effects such as dimming, shuttering, iris and strobe effects can be brought into play and combined with two banks of animated gif images. The software includes 130 factory-set GIFs with room for the addition of 40 customised GIFs.
sACN networking capabilities
Elidy v2.0 has added the capacity for sACN networking which means Elidy can now be driven with DMX, ArtNet and sACN – very useful for the smooth handling of big lighting systems with complex data networks as evidenced by the current Mumford & Sons tour.
Multi-source control mode
Animation Maker can be controlled independently from Pixel Engine (Elidy’s onboard pixel mapper), effectively creating two separate media engines. Control of each is via DMX or ArtNet and now sACN, each with its own network feed. Not only that but each of them can receive signals from a combination of any two of the three protocols.
Elidy version 2.0 is available as a free upgrade. Examples of its capabilities can be seen here: http://vimeo.com/chromlech/elidy-software-v2 or visit the Chromlech stand at PLASA (F39).
New for PLASA:
Chromlech completes its Elidy range with the introduction of the Elidy Strip. Elidy Strip is an LED striplight composed of either 5 or 15 LEDs. It incorporates all the technology and functionality of the Elidy panels but with a few revolutionary new developments. Technicians and designers are going to love this new fast and ingenious way of setting up their complex systems.
