Establishing functional monitoring, verification, and enforcement (MVE) infrastructure is critical to safeguarding the credibility of product energy efficiency standards and labelling (S&L) programmes, as well as to ensuring that S&L programmes realise expected energy savings.

Monitoring activities identify potential cases of non-compliance, and verification procedures confirm whether or not compliance violations have occurred. However, it is enforcement authority that enables relevant agencies to respond to cases of non-compliance, using a range of appropriate and proportionate sanctions to remove non-compliant products from the market.

A well-thought-out enforcement strategy – built around practical enforcement procedures – is an essential component of any compliance framework. In the absence of such a strategy, compliant suppliers suffer a competitive disadvantage and may be penalised through a loss of economic returns, both of which can provide a disincentive to invest in innovation.

Participants in this webinar will receive practical, in-depth guidance on the role of enforcement in the MVE process, and will learn about enforcement best practices that they can integrate into national MVE strategies for lighting.

The webinar will be presented by representatives from CLASP and IIEC.
